TIME Person of the Year: President Obama

He weathered a brutal campaign amongst endless controversy. Works for me, though Malala Yousafzai and Tim Cook both struck me as very strong candidates.

The slideshow of the past decade of winners is interesting. Some choices seem fairly weak, like 2006 (You) and 2001 (Guliani), while Jeff Bezos’ 1999 cover photo is just terrible.
