Regarding this OS X/iOS debate, I feel like people (namely, Ben Brooks and Jim Darlymple) have been essentially arguing towards a similar idea.  Stephen Hackett zeroes in on a really good point here, which basically takes us back to the excellent post from John Gruber that we all started with.
